• Being outdoors has a positive impact on children's sense of well-being and helps all aspects of children's development.  
• Being outdoors offers opportunities for doing things in different ways and on different scales that when indoors. 
• It gives children first hand contact with weather seasons and the natural world. 
• Outdoor environments offer children freedom to explore, use their senses and be physically active and exuberant. 

• It is fragmented and whilst the space has some quality resources it is not organised in a way that promotes independence.   
• There is currently little opportunity for climbing and core strength development.   
• The space needs to be given as much attention and setting up as inside which it does not currently have.   
• We have started 'zoning' some areas- stage/ sand/ bark/ blocks/ domestic role play however these are not resourced to their full potential.  
• The bird hide is a hit and can be adapted each term ( all items to be stored in  the burrow for easy access/set up the following year).

• Extend the fence of the bark area to  the wall. 
• Cut back some of the shrubs. 
• Make the stage more central.
• Water area relocated to where the stage is currently. 
• Storage shed for den making/loose parts in the bark area.
• Storage shed for overalls and wellies (both FS1 and FS2 use).
• Move the rocket out of the bark.
• Add climbing A-fame to the bark along with balancing equipment. 
• Create a reflection/quiet area using the rocket with reading pots of sensory flowers. At the top of the stairs outside the door.  
• Zone off the three areas below the canopy. These could be interchangeable areas - community playthings blocks/ woodwork.  
• Tuff trays with natural resources.  

The total cost to transform our outdoor space is £2,259.60 

The Foundation will fund £1,234, so we are fundraising for £1,025.60
